Aki was born in Nagoya, Japan. She began editing while attending Aoyama Gakuin University. After graduation, Aki worked as an editor in Tokyo where she developed her style and approach, one she likens to a “comfortable flow of dance.” In search of new adventure, Aki moved to Los Angeles in 2006 to work at Cutters. Aki’s commercial portfolio includes spots for Toyota, AT&T, Kikkoman, Mercedez Benz and Asahi, among others. Aki also recently had the pleasure of working with American rock legend David Lee Roth on a fun short film called “Tokyo Story.” In addition to her vast body of work in the advertising world, Aki received international acclaim for her work on the documentary “The Tsunami and the Cherry Blossom” which was nominated for an Academy Award in 2012. Aki recently produced her greatest work to date – her beautiful daughter, Oia, to whom she is utterly devoted.
