Shimmy Ahmed is a filmmaker/director whose work has an unmistakable sass and swagger. Throughout her career, Shimmy has matched her unquenchable drive for storytelling with riotous colour, bold authenticity and joyous moments. She has created imagery that bursts through the screen and connects the audience with her unmistakable creative energy.
Her clients straddle the creative industries, from visionary fashion bibles such as Vogue, Elle and Dazed (and bi-annuals like TWIN), to music videos and content working with artists such as FKA Twigs to Giggs and King Krule. Shimmy is a master of interpreting the mood, style and philosophy of brands, directing content for everyone from Made to Topshop. Shimmy has worked in a number of roles on-set, honing her directing style and uses these influences to create beautifully conceived and emotive films that capture unique stories.
Her narrative work includes the short film ‘Wait’, written and directed by Shimmy, which was included in the official Raindance film festival line-up in the “Lost Sensations” category.
Born in Berkshire and residing in London, Shimmy is currently writing her first feature film which explores her British-Asian heritage and is based on testimonials gathered from relatives who experienced the partition of India and Pakistan in 1947.
