Shih-Ting Hung has had a lifelong passion for cinema and has been a film and commercial director ever since her first film from the USC School of Cinematic Arts.

Her film, the fantasy fairy tale “ VIOLA: The Traveling Rooms of a Little Giant,” was recognized with the 35th Student Academy Award®. The film appeared as the cover story of the Oscars® magazine, Academy Report, and continues to screen in more than 200 international film festivals around the globe. Having experienced the landscape of the 2009 recession as well as the ever present challenges of gender and race issues in the industry, Shih has overcome much adversity to achieve success at an international level as a commercial director by persistently knocking on doors and never taking no for an answer.

Shih continues to build her impressive repertoire as a director between the USA and China, with clients such as Sony, Cadillac, Warner Bros. for Harry Potter, and JD. Her multi-cultural experiences give her a distinctive eye to tell stories. Bilingual in English and Mandarin, Shih has also since developed into a strong voice and advocate for women’s rights by sharing her experiences at symposiums for women filmmakers at such institutions as USC, UCLA, and CalArts, as well as at the Shanghai International Film Festival, and Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Aside from her portfolio of films and commercials, Shih’s work has also appeared at the New York Guggenheim Museum and several art museums, and has been written about in the New York Times, The Hollywood Reporter, The Los Angeles Times, and Variety magazine. She has a deep love for Taiwanese food, and an insatiable appetite for a witty sense of humor.

Shih is signed with RSA Films ASIA, and freelances in the US and Europe.
