French director, Muriel Lacalmontie, expertly captures quiet, human moments in a remarkably cinematic yet naturalistic package, specializing in beauty. In truth, beauty has never been better showcased than in a Lacalmontie spot. Helming global campaigns for the likes of Dove, Nivea, RoC, Carefree, Garnier, Dior, Danone and L’Occitane en Provence. The director has long-term collaborations with top agencies, such as Leo Burnett and Draft/FCB.
Muriel is also an accomplished photographer and has directed award-winning short films, music videos and documentaries. After learning how to paint, design, sculpt and engrave at the Ecole des Beaux Arts, she went on to study cinema at the Ecole Superieure d’Etudes Cinematographiques de Paris and graduated with distinction. Post graduation, Muriel cut her filmmaking teeth by collaborating with regarded French directors, like Dominique Issermann on projects for Yves St Laurent, Dior and Chanel, and Sarah Moon for Sonia Rykiel and Cacharel.
Lacalmontie’s short films, “Spring in Tien Anmen” and “Triptyque 0.01.02, ” went onto win awards at CNC (Centre National de la Cinématographie) and were released in theatres throughout France. Muriel is currently developing her first feature film, “One One Two”.
