Minhal Baig is a writer/director recently featured on the 2016 Black List for her feature-length script Hala, about a Muslim teenager reconciling a sexual awakening with her faith and family. Overbrook is producing the film. In 2017, she was chosen as a directing mentee for Ryan Murphy’s Half Foundation Directing Mentorship.

With a degree in Fine Arts from Yale University, she has an acute and thoughtful eye for detail and textural beauty that translates into her work. She has written and directed several shorts including Pretext, After Sophie, Hala, and music videos, which have been featured by the Los Angeles Times, Nowness, Dazed, Nylon, Spin, Pitchfork, Stereogum, Short of the Week, Director’s Notes, Booooooom!, Vimeo Staff Pick and Hammer Museum in LA. She currently resides in Los Angeles, CA.
