Mary John is a director, choreographer, and filmmaker making music videos, commercials, Virtual Reality films, fashion shorts, and live immersive experiences. Her goal is to create visually engaging, socially conscious content that blends movement, action, comedy, and unique camera work. She has directed for New York City Ballet, Condé Nast, Google, and Disney and her projects have been featured in The New York Times, Vogue.com, Nowness, Refinery 29, and more. Her work has screened at Lincoln Center, the Hammer Museum, and The Young Directors Award at Cannes Lions (2016). Mary John received an MFA in Dance from the Tisch School of The Arts in 2013. Her most recent awards include being one of Vimeo’s “Groundbreaking Female Filmmakers To Watch” and she was a finalist in the Tribeca Film Festival and IBM/Watson’s “Storytellers With Watson” competition.
