Her first short film ‘I Stood Up’ (2008), which won the Smoke and Mirrors 48 Film Competition, was awarded Runner Up Best Newcomer at the Rushes Soho Shorts, was selected for the OneDotZero New British Talent showcase at the BFI and aired on the BBC in 2009. It later won Rankin’s Film 1000 completion in 2012.
Lucy went on to direct further short films ‘DOMINIC’ (2010) and ‘THE TRUTH ABOUT STANLEY’ (2012), which received a 5* review in The Independent and was dubbed a ‘21st Century Cathy Come Home’ by the Guardian. ‘LAY ME DOWN’ (2014), starring Jessica Barden (The Lobster, The End of the F***ing World) won Best Female Characters in the London Short Film Festival.
Her commercial clients include Adidas, Philips Hue, Bud Light and charity Plan International, for which her ‘Change the Story’ spot won the Free the Bid award for Best Commercial at the 2017 One Screen awards.
Lucy recently directed the second half (episodes 5-8) of critically acclaimed dark-comedy drama series ‘THE END OF THE F***ING WORLD’ for Netflix/Channel 4, which launched worldwide on Netflix Jan 5th 2018 and described by The Guardian as “mesmerizingly fine” and The Globe as “simultaneously sinister, funny, wise and fabulous”.
Her feature film ‘JESUS AND THE JETPACK’, a comedy-drama road movie set in Texas, centred around a wild goose chase for a missing man with a Messiah complex, is in development at Electric City Entertainment (BLUE VALENTINE, CAPTAIN FANTASTIC)
She is currently shooting new Netflix/BBC series ‘WANDERLUST’, written by Nick Payne and star Toni Colette and Zawe Ashton, which is due for release in fall 2018.
