Lauren Midwinter has created work for major household names and luxury brands such as GAP, Red Bull, Marc Jacobs and Nars. She has a passion for directing narrative film, especially drama, and works with documentary as well as video art. Her aim is always to create imaginative concepts that take you somewhere unexpected, turning the ordinary on it’s head.
Her work has been screened at worldwide festivals, shown in art galleries, within international flagship stores and with major online publications. Lauren is in her element when working with talent thanks to her vocational training on the BA Directing course at Drama Centre London, Central St Martins.
With experience of 3 directing worlds; theatre, film and commercials, she has a unique skill set:
The performer-centric approach of a director trained in theatre
The visual storytelling, audience-centric approach of a film director
The cut-through-the-noise attitude of a commercial director.
After three years as an in-house director at media juggernaut Time Inc. where she worked on editorial video and commercial/ branded content for brands like Marie Claire, InStyle and many of the company’s 60+ titles, Lauren is now freelance and specialises in the fashion, beauty and lifestyle arenas.
Currently Lauren is part of a writing development team for a new TV show and is about to create her first video art installation using 360 degree filming, which will then be housed online as a VR music video.
