Kristen Barker is an award winning photographer & director, and one half of the husband & wife duo by The Barkers. The Barkers have a studio together in the Ukrainian Village neighborhood in Chicago for the past 6 years + counting. They’ve been creating killer videos, vibrant imagery and some of those catchy songs you’ve been shazaming for both commercial advertising + editorial projects for some of the world’s biggest brands including- Crate & Barrel, JCPenney, Microsoft, Kraft, P&G and Hyatt. Kristen’s talent caught the attention of Leo Burnett Chicago who pulled her (& her husband) in to shoot two campaigns for Always. The Barkers were named PDN and Rangefinders Top 20 in Motion in 2014 and were praised early on for their GIF work by sites Giphy & Buzzfeed. They are frequently tapped for their integrated capabilities (Photo, Video and Music) directing productions that fade in and out of stills and motion as well as original music composition. No one thing or one person is truly ordinary. And the Barkers remind us of this throughout their work. Those real life everyday moments, and the experiences that shape our lives are what they strive to capture. The work they create is not just pictures and words; it’s living content—made of bite-sized slices-of-life telling stories online and in print.
