Robert Redford whispers to horses, Kim Lowe whispers to kids. Truthfully it’s not always whispers. It’s really whatever it takes. It’s empathy and energy and an innate understanding of childhood-from-the-inside that helps her bring out their best on film. And it’s not just kids. She brings a natural touch and “real” vibe to all her work. Adults included.
Kim started her career as an ad agency art director, then spent 15 years as a commercial and editorial photographer who shot video on the side, because frankly everyone wanted some video with their photo shoot.
Then one day she got a call to forget the photography and shoot a TV commercial for Cuties – those little clementine oranges.
She straddled the worlds of photo and film for a couple of years, but is now a full-time director with ELEMENT Productions in Boston.
Recent commercial directing clients include: MegaBloks , PlayMonster, WonderCrew, Roominate and Hasbro. She’s also put her film and editing skills to work for many non-profits – including Free the Children, Unite to Light and One World Play in Haiti. Plus Cradles to Crayons and CitySprouts in Boston.
She also spends time teaching kinder”gardeners” in the Boston public schools about seed starting and gardening. Child whispering comes in really handy there too.
