Karla Braun is an award-winning director and creative producer based in Los Angeles. She was raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil then graduated from Rhode Island School of Design with a BA in Film and began her career at Miramax Films in 2001.
Braun has written, creative produced and directed television promos, key art campaigns, music videos and commercial spots for clients including: NBC, ABC, FOX, Freeform, Lifetime, History, Cartoon Network, A&E, OWN, CNN, ESPN, CNBC, CMT, TBS, Scripps Networks, Universal, Sony Pictures, HBO, Showtime, Netflix, TV Land, MillerCoors, Fandango, Cisco, Mattel, Activision, Marvel and Disney.
She produced the short film #twitterkills, starring Emmy and Golden Globe winner Sarah Paulson; it was a festival circuit success followed by a Funny or Die online launch and has won multiple awards to date.
Her creative work has received international recognition, winning a 2013 Key Art award for the Longmire A&E promo, a 2014 Gold Mobius for the Homeland transmedia campaign created for Showtime, 2015 PromaxBDA Gold for the ESPN/History co-promotional spot for Vikings. The multi-spot campaign she directed for Cartoon Network/Activision was nominated for PromaxBDA 2017 award. She is also a proud member of Free The Bid.
Most recent 2018 work includes: writing and directing marketing spots for upcoming Netflix series 13 Reasons Why season 2, Everything Sucks!, House of Cards season 6 Oscar commercial starring Robin Wright, as well as the just released action comedy film, Game Over, Man!
A big believer in giving back and cultivating a new reality for female creatives in the entertainment business Karla is a mentor to young women and filmmakers volunteering with multiple non-profit organizations in Los Angeles.
