KATYA RICHARDSON is a composer, pianist, and producer based in Los Angeles, best known for her innovative vocal textures. She recently graduated with a B.M. in Composition and minor in Cinematic Arts from the University of Southern California, studying with Pulitzer-Prize finalist Ted Hearne and BAFTA-winning game composer Garry Schyman. Most notably, she has worked as a studio assistant for Craig Wedren on Fresh Off the Boat, for Danny Elfman on The Grinch (2018) where she arranged music for Tyler the Creator, and at Hans Zimmer’s Remote Control Productions.
In 2013, the Los Angeles Philharmonic performed Katya’s orchestral work at Walt Disney Concert Hall, and in 2016 her Fanfare for Orchestra premiered at the Hollywood Bowl’s Opening Night/Steely Dan concert.
Although known for her lush orchestrations, Katya’s interdisciplinary work spans across several artistic fields; from composing for orchestra and film, to collaborations in dance and pop, her unique sound flourishes in her ability to experiment with differing genres. In addition to scoring short films like Goh Ballet (2018) and Cannes Short Film Corner, Céline (2017), Katya has also produced music for animated YouTube series, documentaries, and ongoing dance collaborations with the Royal Ballet in London and The Norwegian National Ballet.
