Julie B. Nichols is a Chicago based composer, songwriter, music director and producer. She composes for commercials, film, web series, live theater and her band Julie Nichols and The Epic Sound. She has composed for major brands including Marshall’s, Kmart, Big Lots, ESPN and General Electric. After studying jazz piano at the University of Iowa, Julie took her improv skills to the world renowned Second City Theater in Chicago where she was their Musical Director for four years. While there she broke barriers in satirical song writing, improvised music and original composition.
Julie currently leads So Chi Voices, a diverse group dedicated to social and political activism through the power of music. She recently played for 250,000 people at The Women’s March. Julie loves to write soul, cinematic, instrumental and R&B music. She has toured internationally, and shared the stage with some of music’s biggest names including Rhymefest, Paul Simon and Phish.
