Christy Carew is a Canadian-American composer for film, TV, advertising, multimedia and the concert world. She loves to score all genres of narrative and documentary film. Christy considers herself first and foremost a storyteller, and feels honored to collaborate with directors on pieces of art that impact, uplift, transport & comfort those who experience them. She was absolutely thrilled to be selected as one of only 8 composer fellows to participate in the highly competitive 2018 Sundance Institute Film Music and Sound Design Lab, which took place at Skywalker Sound. She was also recently selected to be a 2019 participant in the renowned ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop, which will culminate in a 65-piece orchestral recording session at Fox. She works as In-House Composer, Music Director and Producer at 5 Alarm Music. As a concert composer, Ms. Carew was a semi-finalist in 2013 for the Sorel Medallion Choral Composition Contest, and has had her work premiered by the Reno Pops Orchestra. Christy was educated at New York University’s Steinhardt School – Master of Arts in Film Scoring/Composition. She also has a Bachelor of Music (Piano Performance and Music Business) from Loyola University New Orleans (2004) and a diploma as composer from the summer program of the European American Musical Alliance, held at L’Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris (2005.)
